Countries

Flag: Democratic Republic of Congo

Africa has been raped, and her resources has been exploited, for far too long now!!

The Democreatic Republic of Congo has not been any exception either.

After many years of war and civil unrest, urgent assistance with the rebuilding of infrustructures in this country and healing of so many broken people, mainly widows and innocent children, is desperately needed right now.

There are so many opportunies for willing and able investors / engineers, and the timing is now right.

Yes, there are challanges that face us and there is no beter time than right now, that these can be overcome.

This is such a rich and wonderful country with lovely (but broken) people.

Here is summarised list of some of the contracts and projects that WEROKA HOLDING
(SPRL)(DRC) has already been awarded for DRC and Angola, that can be made available to Partners of WEROKA HOLDING (SPRL)(DRC).

Map of democratic Republic of Congo

1. Huge market in the heart of Africa

  • DRC is located right in the centre of Africa.

  • Having an awesome surface area of 2,345,000 Km² (one of the giants of the continent).

  • Incredible possibilities of various widely developing activities: Agricultural, Breeding, Forest, Mining, Industrial, Tourism, etc.

  • Surrounded by nine neighbouring countries (common borders of 9,165 Km).

  • Focal point and of access to other African markets.

  • Junction points with roads of Central Africa, the East, the West, the North and the South.

  • Membership of several African economic zones: SADC, COMESA, CEEAC…

2. Specific climatic diversity
A country astride the Equator.

Four types of weather:

  • Equatorial weather (Eastern Province, Equateur and the Northern parts of Maniema, Bandundu and both Kasaï);

  • Humid tropical weather (in the Northern parts of Eastern Province, Equateur, Bas-Congo and the central parts of Bandundu, both Kasaï and North Katanga);

  • Tropical weather with long dry season  (in the Southern parts of Bandundu, both Kasaï and Katanga);

  • Coastal weather (in the West of Bas-Congo).

  • Particular rainfall characterized by rains throughout the year.

Thus, conditions conducive to intense farming activities with 3 to 4 possible annual harvests for food crops.

3. Farming activities with large pieces of land.

  • DRC is provided with over 120 million hectares of fertile arable land conducive to immense agricultural activities.

  • 10% only is currently exploited of the entire land.

  • Enormous potential of pasture comprising vast plateaus, plains and mountains.

  • Impressive halieutic potential evaluated at over 1 million tons per year.

4. One of the biggest fresh water reserves worldwide.

  • DRC's hydraulic potential is extraordinary provided with a hydraulic basin of 3,680,000 Km, thus, rendering the country one of the biggest fresh water reserves in the world.

  • Large farm opportunity.

  • Possibility of selling this water to desert regions of South and North of the continent.

5. Global energetic reservoir.

  • Congo River: Around 2,900 Km long, with the most regular and most powerful flow (40,000 m3/s) worldwide after the Amazon.

  • Hydroelectric resources evaluated at 744,000,000 Mwh, that is, around 106,000 Mw of power that can be exploited.

  • Nearly 44% (that is 44,000 Mw) of this potential are concentrated exclusively at Inga site.

Other big potential sites of electrical production:

  • Wanie Rukula : 900 MW (Eastern Province)

  • Busanga : 240 MW (Katanga)

  • Nzilo II  : 120 MW (Katanga)

  • Nzongo II : 100 MW (Bas Congo)

  • Kiliza  : 100 MW (South Kivu)

  • Ruzizi III : 82 MW (South Kivu)

  • Semuliki : 72 MW (North Kivu)

  • Katende : 54 MW (Kananga)

Other renewable energetic sources that can be exploited in DRC:

  • Solar energy: DRC's position with regard to the equator locates it in a band with very high sunshine of which values are comprised between 3,500 and 6,750 Mh/m2. DRC is ready to exploit thus kind of energy.

  • Wood energy: Around 128,004,198 ha of forest, covering therefore 54% of DRC's surface area, are available in the country. Wood stands for 90.5% on average, of the primary power consumed in DRC.

  • Biogas: Potentialities including plant and animal wastes which can produce biogas are immense. Biogas can be useful to supply generator sets adapted for electricity production.

  • Bio fuel: Country with a farming vocation, DRC can produce bio fuel of plants, particularly from palm-tree and ja.

DRC's energetic potential can supply the whole Africa with electricity and the surplus of which be distributed towards the Mediterranean Europe and the Middle-East.

6. Forest empire.

Congolese forest:

  • Over 45% of African equatorial forest, that is, 6% of the global tropical reserves.

  • Forest expanses are assessed at 128,004,198 ha that is, around 54.6% of the country surface area.

  • More or less 1,000 species, including those very scarce worldwide such as, Afromosia, Wenge, Sapelli, Sipo, Tiama, Tola, Lifaki, Kambala, Iroko, Ebony, etc.

  • Possibility of timber exploitation for specific purposes (building, furniture, industry, export…).

NB: Legal obligation to locally process timber before export.

7. Tourism wonders.

  • Countless sites and tourist attractions.

  • Seven national parks and about ten similar natural reserves.

  • Many animal species such as lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and others only found in DRC among which Okapi, white hippopotamus, Bonobos, and so on.

8. Mining reservoir.

An extremely varied range of minerals is concealed in the Congolese sub-soil, thus offering enormous possibilities of exploitation faced with a rocketing global demand (Case of China):

Basic metal:
- Iron ore : Both Kasaï, Bas-Congo, Katanga, Eastern Province, South-Kivu.

Metals non ferrous:
- Aluminium  : Bas-Congo.
- Copper   : Katanga, Bas-Congo, Bandundu, both Kasaï.
- Lead   : Bas-Congo, Eastern Kasaï, Kivu.
- Zinc   : Eastern Kasaï, Katanga.
- Etain   : Katanga and Kivu.

Alloy metal:
- Nickel chromium : both Kasaï;
- Wolframite  : North-Kivu (Bushasha and Butembo);
- Manganese  : Katanga (Kisenge and Kasekelesa);
- Vanadium  : Bas Congo;
- Cobalt   : Katanga Province.

Strategic metal:
- Beryllium   : South-Kivu (Kamituga-Kasoko) and Katanga (Mituaba);
- Monazite   : Maniema, South-Kivu, Katanga and both Kasaï.
- Lithium   : Manono dans le Katanga;
- Colombo Tantalite : Manono (Katanga), Sud-Kivu, Maniema.

Precious and semi precious mineral substances:
- Silver : Bas Congo, Eastern Kasaï, South-Kivu, Eastern Province, Maniema;
- Gold : Eastern Province, Kivu, Maniema, Katanga, Bas Congo, both Kasaï;
- Platinum : Western Kasaï, Katanga, Maniema;
- Diamond : both Kasaï, Bandundu, Équateur, Eastern Province, Maniema, North-Kivu.

9. Promising and booming economy.

  • Important economic measures taken by the Government since 2001.

  • Liberalization of national economy (all sectors, among which mining, oil and prices);

  • Implementation of floating rate system (instead of government fixing system);

  • Cutting of some rates of domestic tax;

  • Setting up of modern and incentive new laws (Investment Code, Mining Code, Forest Code, Labour Code);

  • Revival of structural cooperation with bilateral and multilateral partners.

Consequences:
- Stability of macro-economic parameters;
- Inflation control;
